Carbon composition resistors are the most commonly found type of resistor in vintage electronics. They are believed by many to make a contribution to the tone of amplifiers that is warmer sounding. 1/4 watt versions are available which are ideal for building or modifying pedals with circuit boards. 1/2 watt and 1 watt versions are commonly found in tube amplifiers. They are marked with the standard EIA 4 band color code for easy identification.
